Comments: Interesting information. I have enjoyed reading about the history.

Comments: I am the researcher in a New Orleans art gallery. We just bought a painting of two chidren posing together entitled "Le Duc de Guise et a future Duchesse de Magenta." The girl looks to be a couple of years, maybe, older than the boy, but they seem to be either just pre-teens or early adolescents. I know that there were three famous Ducs de Buise in 16th and 17th century France but I don't know which one this is. I assume that the two are closely related. Whatever genealogy I can get tends to ignore females. Can you help me? David Orr, Ph.D. Research Director, Kurt E. Schon, Ltd. orrdav@bellsouth.net

Comments: Thank you for this manuscript (King Rene) My name is Gabrielle, I live in Brooklyn NY. This book was introduced to me as a child, by my father who is an artist and scholar. My great-grand mother's maiden name was Anjou, from Romania, so this always had very special meaning to me. I dont know if its any relation, it would be only romantic fairy tale musings to think so..... I suppose. I myself hope to get my PhD in English lit. So I dont know if you would reply but thank you for all of this it really brought tears to my eyes. Gabrielle Galker

Comments: (E-Mail notes) ~ I saw the following family on your Family Tree Maker Page. The reason I'm writing you is I've been given a large amount of notes for my Phipps family who were from Lincoln, Co. Georgia. Along with the Phipps notes are many notes and a few family group sheets on your Nicholas Guise and his children........it is speculative that there is another daughter, Pamela, who married him 1st... this is just some of the ideas coming through on these papers.......e-mail continues...

Comments: We are trying to find information on a physician in the mid to late 1700s who practised in Maryland and was likely to be commisioned in the British Navy or Army. Being a Tory, it is believed that he returned to England about 1776. Your help with this would br greatly appreciated. . We are searching for the names of children that stayed in America when he left. Particularly a daughter that married a "Patten" Thank you in advance.

Comments: Thanks for the information. I had the fantasy that I was descent of Duc de Guise in France whose succession is actually the pretendant to the kingdom of France (due to the revolution, it is just the pretendant) But maybe you are right and my ancestors are coming from Alsace-Lorraine, which is not to bad! ....Jacques
I will be king in another life !
