~ Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven by fierce winds,
yet are they turned about with a very small helm,
Even so our tongue is a little member, and yet boasteth great things.
Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

~~The name of GUISE appears early in the House of
Lorraine. When "Good King Rene", GreatGrandson of King John II of
France and Count of Guise , married Isobella, daughter of the King of Lorraine, he
became the Duke of Lorraine in addition
to his many other titles,
including those
of Guise and Lorraine which passed through Rene's daughter
Iolonde to her son RENE II.
~~~And thus thru generations extend the issue of Rene, the
House of Guise and all it's branches . Authoress Antonia Frazier, in her book "Mary,Queen
of Scots", describes the Guises as the most fascinating family nexus
in all of French History.
